Change Workspace Member Roles

This section explains how to change the role of a workspace member.

Prerequisites

You should join a workspace and have the Member Management permission within the workspace. For more information, refer to “Workspace Members” and “Workspace Roles”.

Steps

  1. Log in to the KubeSphere web console with a user who has the Member Management permission, and access your workspace.

  2. Click Workspace Settings > Workspace Members in the left navigation pane.

  3. On the right side of the workspace member you want to edit, click more, then select Change Role.

  4. In the Change Role dialog, set the role for the workspace member from the dropdown list, then click OK.

    KubeSphere provides the following preset workspace roles:

    RoleDescription

    workspace-admin

    Workspace administrator, has full permissions within the workspace.

    workspace-self-provisioner

    Workspace self-provisioner, can create projects, view workspace settings, and has management permissions for projects they create.

    workspace-viewer

    Workspace viewer, can view all resources within the workspace.

    workspace-regular

    Workspace regular user, only has permission to view workspace settings within the workspace. This role is typically assigned to project members who do not require additional workspace permissions.
