Basic usage
Normal
Use break-normal
to only add line breaks at normal word break points.
<p class="break-normal ...">...</p>
Break Words
Use break-words
to add line breaks mid-word if needed.
<p class="break-words ...">...</p>
Break All
Use break-all
to add line breaks whenever necessary, without trying to preserve whole words.
<p class="break-all ...">...</p>
Applying conditionally
Hover, focus, and other states
Tailwind lets you conditionally apply utility classes in different states using variant modifiers. For example, use hover:break-all
to only apply the break-all
utility on hover.

Breakpoints and media queries
You can also use variant modifiers to target media queries like responsive breakpoints, dark mode, prefers-reduced-motion, and more. For example, use md:break-all
to apply the break-all
utility at only medium screen sizes and above.
